Imports also increased and are subtracted in the GDP calculation. Real final sales to private domestic purchasers, comprising consumer spending and private fixed investment, grew at an annualised rate of 4.9%, compared with 4.6% in the second quarter. The estimate is preliminary and uses source data and assumptions available for the advance release. BEA scheduled the second estimate for 25 November.
