UNAMA said at least 10 civilians were killed and nine injured in airstrikes in Afghanistan’s Kunar and Helmand provinces on 1 October. The mission said most of those killed were children.

The UN mission said it had documented more than 1,100 civilian deaths and injuries in Afghanistan from cross-border armed violence since the start of 2026. UNAMA’s statement confirms the civilian toll; accounts of responsibility for the strikes differ between the parties.
