The mean was 18.45% below Saturday’s €137.1925/MWh, calculated from the two unrounded daily averages. Friday’s average was €110.090625/MWh. These are wholesale auction outcomes for scheduled delivery periods, not household tariffs or a forecast of a later market price. The Sunday file contains 100 consecutive market periods, compared with 96 periods in each of the Friday and Saturday files. OMIE’s market information explains that day-ahead prices are formed for each 15-minute market time unit. The delivery date coincided with the autumn clock change in mainland Spain, when local clocks move back an hour; the raw file identifies sequential period numbers, not local clock labels, so this report preserves those numbers rather than assigning times to them. Within Sunday’s file, the lowest clearing price was negative €1.46/MWh and the highest was €250.59/MWh. The minimum was in periods 49 through 52, while the maximum was in period 93. Saturday’s range ran from negative €0.01/MWh in periods 61 to 64 to €226/MWh in periods 85 and 86. Friday’s minimum was €0.66/MWh in periods 62 to 64 and its maximum was €224/MWh in period 80. The daily average therefore fell on Sunday even as its maximum rose above Saturday’s peak. OMIE describes the daily mean as the arithmetic mean of the marginal prices for the periods of the selected day. Each quarter-hour contributes equally to that calculation; it is not weighted by electricity demand or traded volume. The operator’s price file reports the Spanish day-ahead market price in euros per megawatt-hour. Negative values can occur in individual wholesale periods and do not mean that every participant, customer or retail account receives power at a negative price. For a like-for-like view of the 100 Sunday periods, the accompanying table uses a Newsverum-calculated index: each published period price is divided by Saturday’s exact daily mean of €137.1925/MWh and multiplied by 100, then rounded to two decimal places. Saturday’s mean is therefore the reference level of 100 index points. This dimensionless comparison is not an additional OMIE price series, a euro amount, a consumer-price index or a projection. The underlying raw observations remain the operator’s reported EUR/MWh values. The comparison covers three individual delivery days, not a weekly trend or a measure of Spain’s total generation costs. It does not identify which fuels or technologies set each period’s marginal price, explain the causes of the daily movements, or show the amount paid by a particular buyer. OMIE’s files also include a second published price column that matched the first for every record in the three files checked. OMIE specifies an arithmetic mean across periods; each 15-minute period receives equal weight.
