Manufacturing rose 5.3% and electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply rose 8.8%, while mining and quarrying fell 31.5%. From July to August, total production value increased 1.6%; capital-goods industries gained 7% while consumer-goods industries declined 2%. The cumulative value for the first eight months was 0.9% higher year on year.
