ShipStation Global’s engineering team developed Deckhand, an AI help desk inside Slack, to handle recurring IT questions and answers scattered across company resources. It responds to routine queries from a curated knowledge base, interprets screenshots of error messages and creates or updates Jira Service Management tickets when issues need follow-up.

AWS’s October 13 technical case study says the help desk channel had received more than 1,500 threads in the prior 12 months, with over one fifth of questions arriving outside US business hours. Deckhand handled 1,935 messages in its first three months and replied to 97.5% of messages; positive ratings reached 96% in June. These figures describe ShipStation’s own deployment.
