Scotland’s First Minister announced a new Respect Fund for Scotland on 17 October. Up to an additional £1 million from 2027/28 will support third-sector programmes helping secondary pupils reject misogyny; primary pupils are to receive age-appropriate learning about respect. The government described the fund as part of a broader package addressing violence against women and girls.

The package also includes a refreshed “Don’t Be That Guy” campaign backed by sporting organisations and athletes, and a commitment to introduce a Misogyny Bill before the 2027 summer recess. The government named Scottish Rugby, the Scottish Football Association and Scottish Tennis among campaign supporters. The bill remains a future commitment; the release does not say it has been introduced or enacted.
