The ministry said the initiative will use national-park lands with sparse or degraded vegetation near treated-water sources to grow local fruit-bearing plants with economic value. The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification said the contracts can run for up to 15 years and are expected to generate a cumulative SAR 6 billion contribution to GDP over 15 years and more than 700 direct jobs. The projects cover the Madinah, Tabuk and Makkah regions.
