# Saint-Gobain uses Microsoft Discovery in cement-additive research

The project assembled 62,000 patents and 44,000 abstracts into a knowledge base. A Saint-Gobain manager said AI helped build it in hours, compared with an estimated year using the previous research process.

The candidate molecules are still being tested; the report does not establish that a new additive reduces clinker use or increases strength. It separately cites the company’s existing EnviroAdd product as reducing clinker needs by about 20%, a company product claim.
