Researchers from Rutgers, IBM and partner institutions demonstrated repeated measurement and reset steps to control a quantum processor while it was running. The experiment used a 156-qubit IBM Quantum Heron processor and a connected chain of up to 100 qubits.

The team carried out nearly 5,000 two-qubit operations and nearly 5,000 checks and resets, describing the work as a large demonstration of real-time feedback control. It does not mean a fault-tolerant quantum computer has been built; the researchers state that no such machine exists yet.
