Pakistan has decided to expand the Karachi Industrial Park as a centre for export-oriented industry, investment and employment, Radio Pakistan reported on 6 October. The broadcaster said the development was being facilitated by the Special Investment Facilitation Council.

A Federal Special Economic Zone Authority is to be established to oversee and implement the park. The report provides no area, timetable, investment amount or investor allocations, so it describes a decision and planned oversight body rather than a completed expansion or operating authority.
