The team deformed the crystals and then thermally aged them, examining atomic structures with electron microscopy and computer simulations. Results showed improved resistance to stress and gradual deformation at high temperatures. Turbine and power-plant components are potential applications; the source reports neither commercial deployment nor a quantified lifetime gain.
