Britain’s energy regulator Ofgem published findings on 14 October from consumer research conducted in February and March 2026. The survey interviewed 4,460 adults online and face to face in a sample designed to represent Great Britain. Forty percent said they were keeping up with household bills but struggling to do so for energy, while 4% reported being behind on energy payments.

Trust in the energy sector was at its highest level since tracking began in 2022, although responses varied: 45% trusted suppliers to be fair in their dealings and 65% trusted them to treat customers fairly. Fifty-two percent had switched supplier or tariff, while 24% had not switched in five years. The findings are survey responses, not measurements of energy consumption.
