# Norwegian trucks carry 71.4 million tonnes domestically in Q2

> Statistics Norway reported that Norwegian trucks carried 71.4 million tonnes of goods on domestic routes in the second quarter of 2026, 6.9% more than a year earlier. Domestic transport work reached 5.8 billion tonne-kilometres, up 2.9%; international transport work fell 4.4%, leaving total work at 6.2 billion tonne-kilometres.

Domestic truck travel totalled 534 million kilometres, including empty runs. Trucks travelled 157.8 million kilometres without cargo, or 29.5% of the distance. SSB notes that return loads are often impractical for materials such as gravel, sand, stone and timber. The statistics concern Norwegian trucks, not all trucks operating in Norway.
