The Osun State Committee on Export Promotion (SCEP) discussed ways to broaden the state’s export base. Nigerian Export Promotion Council (NEPC) state coordinator Benson Oseni advocated adding solid minerals to a portfolio that includes agricultural goods and assessing gold as the state’s designated mineral product. A proposal for an export desk in the commerce ministry was also raised.

An RMRDC representative stressed local processing, quality, packaging and standards compliance. A Bank of Agriculture (BOA) representative presented programmes for mechanisation, guaranteed minimum prices and smallholder support. Eligible processors may apply for financing subject to each programme’s conditions; the meeting reported no loan approval or disbursement.
