Imports in the covered categories had peaked at 1,207.6 million kilograms in 2021 and stood at 613.1 million kilograms in 2024.

The series covers only specified steel products subject to EU safeguards, not all steel imports. CBS also notes that sanctions against Russia and Belarus affected trade flows after 2022.
