MicroVision said on Oct. 22 that it had begun commercial production of MOVIA Pro, a short-range lidar sensor, and was shipping units to meet customer demand. The company described the launch as a move beyond prototype evaluation toward commercial programs. It said manufacturing was taking place at its Orlando facility and that the sensor was available for customer orders. The announcement does not identify the customer or state how many units are shipping, so it establishes production readiness without revealing the scale of orders.

MOVIA Pro combines lidar sensing with onboard processing and perception software. MicroVision says its Open Software Framework allows customers to build, deploy and update applications on the sensor, rather than relying exclusively on external computing hardware to interpret point-cloud data. The company describes outputs that can turn sensor data into object-level information and send it to connected systems. This architecture underpins the company’s ‘edge’ positioning, but the announcement does not quantify how much host-side compute, wiring or system cost a customer might save.

The release lists multi-echo sensing, which can capture multiple returns from one emitted pulse, and says this can aid detection in challenging conditions. For integration, it cites CAN, Gigabit Ethernet, 100-megabit Ethernet and industrial input-output connections. MicroVision presents these interfaces as suitable for industrial equipment, vehicles and control systems. These are manufacturer claims, not independently benchmarked findings in the release: it gives no environment-specific detection accuracy, false-positive rate, third-party comparison or reliability results.

The company identifies a range of possible applications, including navigation and obstacle awareness for unmanned aerial systems; intersection and traffic monitoring for intelligent transportation; and obstacle detection and autonomous movement for warehouse robots, guided vehicles and forklifts. It also lists infrastructure surveillance, security and defense, off-road and marine platforms, commercial vehicles and selected low-speed automotive functions. These examples show the breadth of the intended market, but the release does not say which of those sectors accounts for the current customer demand or first shipments.

A separate product page specifies a 180-by-132-degree field of view, a 10-hertz frame rate, power consumption below 9 watts and a 77-by-76.6-by-56.2-millimeter enclosure. These are published product specifications and should be distinguished from the Oct. 22 production announcement. MicroVision’s product materials also describe onboard perception and solid-state sensing; the company says embedded processing can reduce reliance on a host computer. The materials do not provide independent measurements establishing performance advantages across customer environments.

MicroVision says the sensor is designed to reduce system complexity, cabling and external hardware by combining sensing and perception in one unit, with software updates intended to extend functionality. The release does not disclose selling price, production capacity, shipment volume, revenue contribution, customer qualification status or a deployment schedule. Commercial availability is thus not the same as broad market adoption. The verified development is that the company says production and shipping have begun; future sales and performance depend on customer integration and deployment outcomes not yet described in the source.

### Manufacturer-stated nominal dimensions

Three exterior dimensions on the MOVIA Pro product page; these are not independent measurements.

Methodology: The manufacturer’s 77 × 76.6 × 56.2 mm dimensions are converted to metres by dividing each millimetre value by 1000. Dimension order is retained without inventing axis names. Power, angles and frame rate are not recast into other units here. The period is the product-page review date, not a dated physical measurement.

| label | value | unit | period | basis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Nominal exterior dimension 1 | 0.077 | metres | 2026-10-25 | observed |
| Nominal exterior dimension 2 | 0.0766 | metres | 2026-10-25 | observed |
| Nominal exterior dimension 3 | 0.0562 | metres | 2026-10-25 | observed |
