The Maldives Ministry of Climate Change, Environment and Energy said in an announcement dated 17 October that 32 participants from schools in Addu Atoll, including Hithadhoo School, had taken part in a VilunVeshi school-garden workshop. The ministry did not give the workshop date; the announcement described it as part of World Food Day and National Farmers’ Day activities in Addu Meedhoo.

The workshop focused on school-specific sustainability plans intended to bring garden activities into lessons, involve students and teachers, and teach urban agriculture and nutrition. The ministry said gardens were established at three schools in Greater Malé and that the wider programme is planned for six schools nationwide through the Enhancing Climate Resilience and Food Security project.
