Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) said it opened the Agridop Terre di Romagna centre in Faenza, in the province of Ravenna, on 22 October. The bank described it as its third Agridop centre in Emilia-Romagna, alongside existing sites in Modena and Parma. The network is aimed at businesses in Italy’s food and agriculture supply chains.

The bank said its Agridop programme focuses on companies operating in districts linked to protected designations of origin (DOP) and protected geographical indications (IGP). These European labels identify food products whose qualities or reputation are linked to defined places and production rules. MPS says the centres provide specialist advice and dedicated products; the release does not enumerate individual loan terms or report how many firms have used the service.

MPS expects the new openings to bring its national network to 38 centres by the end of 2026. That is a forward target, not a count of centres already operating on the announcement date. Faenza becomes the third centre in Emilia-Romagna, following Modena and Parma. The bank places the new site on Viale Baccarini in Faenza.

The bank framed the location around the local economy, describing the Faenza area as having fruit-growing, cooperative and sustainability-oriented activity. It also cited orchards, wine and olive production as established parts of local agriculture. Those descriptions come from MPS’s announcement; the release gives no production statistics or independent assessment of recent sector performance.

According to the bank, staff at Agridop centres advise businesses on public support measures for agricultural supply chains, including European and national funding opportunities, and on financing with specific purposes or grants. MPS presented these services as support for firms adapting to changes in the sector, including innovation and sustainability. The announcement does not disclose a budget, credit volume or eligibility terms for Faenza clients.

The opening is a banking-service expansion rather than a public subsidy or a reported increase in agricultural output. The release contains the network target and location details but no data showing effects on investment, employment, production or business survival. The 38-centre figure should therefore be treated as the bank’s plan for year-end, while the stated advisory offer describes its intended service.

The bank said its centres can help firms identify relevant public measures and financing channels available during the 2020–2030 period. The announcement does not say that a specific grant was approved for Faenza businesses or that MPS has committed a fixed lending amount through the centre. The practical offer described is advisory support alongside dedicated financial products.
