INTERPOL reported on 16 September 2026 the results of Operation Phoenix, a three-week effort at border points in Algeria, Jordan, Morocco, Palestine and Tunisia. Authorities made 48 arrests; eight involved people sought under INTERPOL Red Notices and one under a Wanted Persons Diffusion.

More than 700,000 checks were made against INTERPOL databases, producing 246 hits on people and travel documents. The agency said this was the first cross-border operation in the region in which female police officers had full operational responsibility. Authorities also seized a range of illicit goods.
