On 18 September 2026 the Province of British Columbia announced that it has awarded a C$33 million major works contract to B.C.-based Graham Infrastructure LP for the rehabilitation of the Agassiz-Rosedale Bridge over the Fraser River. Construction is expected to begin in September 2026 and take approximately three years to complete.

The bridge opened in 1956, carries two lanes of Highway 9 between Highway 1 and Highway 7, and handles nearly 15,000 vehicles a day. The work will address deterioration of structural steel and concrete, improve drainage and extend the bridge’s operational service life by an estimated 50 years. Key tasks include replacing deck expansion joints, rehabilitating structural components, removing corrosion and recoating the structure.

Most of the work will take place beneath the bridge. From as early as 21 September 2026 the ministry expects nightly single-lane alternating traffic, with maximum delays of about 15 minutes, and occasional overnight full closures of up to 15 minutes at a time; it pointed drivers to a detour over the Mission Bridge.

## Data

### Contract and bridge figures

Contract value, expected construction duration, expected service-life extension and traffic volume stated in the British Columbia information bulletin of 18 September 2026.

Methodology: The C$33 million is the value of the major works contract awarded to Graham Infrastructure LP. The bulletin writes it with a dollar sign and no currency code; it is recorded as Canadian dollars because the issuer is the Province of British Columbia. The three years is the bulletin’s expected construction duration, and the 50 years is its estimate of the extension to the bridge’s operational service life. The 15,000 vehicles a day is the bridge’s current traffic, described in the bulletin as nearly 15,000, not a result of the project.
