On 23 September, the Indian state of Goa said it had become the country’s first state to adopt a dedicated life-course immunisation policy. The 2026–2036 framework aims to bring adult vaccination into routine healthcare beyond childhood. In a report published on 2 October, the World Health Organization’s Alliance for Health Policy and Systems Research said the first implementation phase would offer influenza, pneumococcal and hepatitis B vaccines to eligible adults, including people with chronic diseases, immunocompromised patients and health workers.

The Alliance described a research process in which the Goa government worked with researchers from the Goa Institute of Management and Oxford Policy Management (India) to weigh clinical risk and existing health-system capacity. The state’s launch release also lists the same three vaccine types for the initial phase and says delivery will be integrated into existing services. The sources describe a rollout plan; they do not yet report vaccine doses delivered, participation, coverage or real-world effectiveness.
