The U.S. Energy Information Administration reported on October 14 that monthly wind generation in ISO New England averaged 68% more in the first nine months of 2026 than in the same period of 2025. September output reached 668.9 gigawatt-hours, the highest monthly level of the year and more than double September 2025.

EIA said regional wind capacity increased 47% so far in 2026 to 2.5 gigawatts. Generation totaled 4,619 GWh in the first nine months, 1.9% more than the full-year 2025 total of 4,533 GWh. Because those totals cover different lengths of time, the comparison is not a year-over-year growth rate. EIA based its analysis on hourly grid data.

## Data

### Wind generation indicators

EIA analysis of ISO New England data, October 14, 2026.

Methodology: Volumes are in GWh and remain in prose because there is no registered GWh unit or ISO-NE geography. Percentage comparisons specify their basis and period; the nine-month total versus full-year 2025 is not an annual growth comparison.
