Dubai Electricity and Water Authority said the emirate had 2,826 electric-vehicle charging points at the end of the third quarter of 2026. The figure was included in a report on the Dubai Charge Point Operators Forum, which DEWA held during the Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition from October 20 to 22. The report was published on October 23.

DEWA said the count covers its EV Green Charger stations and charging points operated by independent companies licensed by the authority, working with government and private-sector partners. The release did not provide a breakdown between those groups, the number of physical sites, charger power levels, or the number of vehicles using the network.

The forum brought together charge-point operators and other sector participants under the theme ‘Connect. Align. Accelerate’. DEWA said the discussions addressed regulatory and operational issues and ways to expand charging infrastructure. Its programme included alternating-current and direct-current charging, battery-swapping systems and mobile charging.

As Dubai’s licensing authority for independent operators, DEWA said its regulatory framework sets requirements for developing and operating charging infrastructure. The forum’s stated purpose was to improve coordination among the authority, operators and other stakeholders, and to support investment and service reliability as electric and hybrid vehicle use grows.

The 2,826 figure is a stock count at a specific point in time, rather than a measure of charging sessions, network utilization or newly installed equipment during the quarter. The release did not publish comparable counts for earlier periods, so it does not establish a growth rate. Nor does the figure alone show how evenly chargers are distributed across the emirate or whether capacity meets local demand.

The announcement therefore provides a dated reference point for Dubai’s public charging network and records the topics addressed by the forum. Further assessment of expansion would require consistent series on points and locations, charging capacity, utilization and service availability. DEWA did not publish those measures in this release.

DEWA's announcement placed the count within its regulatory relationship with independent charge-point operators: the authority licenses providers and sets requirements for infrastructure development and operation across the emirate. At WETEX, the forum was framed as a coordination venue for public and private participants, with discussion of reliability, safety, efficiency and readiness as well as investment and customer experience. These statements describe the authority's policy aims and forum agenda. They are not performance findings, and the release supplies no service-level results with which to assess reliability or customer experience.
