The U.S. Department of Energy on October 15 announced nearly $11.1 million in federal funding for eight projects selected for negotiation under its Partnerships for Academic-Industry Career Training (PACT) initiative. The projects are intended to create or expand hands-on training and industry-recognized credential programs for work in oil, natural gas, coal and geothermal energy, as well as energy infrastructure and Tribal communities.

DOE said about $8.8 million would support six projects through its Hydrocarbons and Geothermal Energy Office, while about $2.3 million would support two projects through the Office of Indian Energy Policy and Programs. The selections are for negotiation; the figures are approximate federal funding amounts for the eight projects.
