China's national railway network carried 25.204 million passenger trips on 1 October, the first day of the National Day holiday. The State Council's English portal reported on 2 October, citing China State Railway Group, that this was a single-day record for passenger departures. A trip count does not represent a count of unique passengers.

The company forecast 20.39 million trips for 2 October and said it had scheduled 1,462 additional trains to meet demand. It also forecast about 284 million rail trips over the Mid-Autumn and National Day transport period from 23 September to 8 October; that period total is a forecast, not an observed count.
