# China’s industrial profits rose 15.7% in January–August

> Total profits of China’s above-designated-size industrial enterprises reached 5.272 trillion yuan in the first eight months of 2026, up 15.7% year on year on a comparable basis.

Profits in computer, communications and other electronic equipment manufacturing rose 110% over the same period. Profits across all covered industrial enterprises rose 4.2% year on year in August alone.

The bureau said growth rates use a comparable basis, accounting for coverage changes and removal of duplicated records. The threshold covers industrial legal entities with annual main-business revenue of at least 20 million yuan.

Methodology: NBS cumulative January–August profit changes cover industrial enterprises with annual main-business revenue of at least CNY 20 million. Rates use a comparable basis adjusted for coverage changes and duplicate records; they are not August-only changes.
