Federal minister Evan Solomon launched the National AI Literacy Initiative with the Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii) on 9 September. The programme has three learning streams for students, educators and the public.

The government said Amii-led programming is expected to reach up to one million post-secondary students and more than 50,000 K-12 educators. Plans include a free three-hour course for students and open materials for educators.
