Statistics Canada’s August farm-price release, published October 9, showed canola prices rising for a seventh straight month in the Prairie provinces, supported by biofuel demand. Monthly increases were 6.6% in Saskatchewan and 4.0% in Alberta.

Wheat prices also rose across the Prairie provinces as unfavourable U.S. growing conditions tightened the production outlook. By contrast, Australian competition and a surplus from the 2025/2026 crop year weighed on lentil prices; slaughter-cattle prices fell from July as supply and carcass weights increased.
