# Brazil opens public consultation on its 2036 Energy Expansion Plan

Brazil’s Ministry of Mines and Energy opened a public consultation on 8 October for the synthesis report of its 2036 Energy Expansion Plan (PDE 2036). Click Petróleo e Gás reported the opening on 10 October, and the ministry’s 8 October notice confirms that the report was prepared with the Energy Research Company (EPE) and presents the country’s main energy supply and demand outlook for 2027–2036.

The ministry says the new synthesis report consolidates the plan’s main results in a more accessible format than earlier editions, which exceeded 600 pages. It covers energy security, the energy transition, sector investment and aggregate supply and demand projections, and invites institutions, businesses, specialists and citizens to suggest issues for the sector’s future. The consultation remains open through 6 November. The plan’s projections are planning estimates, not approved investments or realized demand.
