Al-Furat University’s Raqqa branch completed preparations to resume classes at its main campus early the following week, after a hiatus of nearly 14 years. At the time of the October 14 report, pharmacy, science and agriculture classes had already begun; classes in law, economics, education and arts were expected to start the next week.

The branch also opened a new engineering institute, bringing its number of institutes to six. Officials said buildings were rehabilitated and student records transferred ahead of the planned main-campus return. Students told SANA that having a campus in Raqqa could reduce the cost of studying elsewhere.
